In vitro study | γ-Tocopherol (D-γ-Tocopherol) is well absorbed and accumulates to a significant degree in some human tissues; it is metabolized, however, largely to 2,7,8-trimethyl-2-(beta-carboxyethyl)-6-hydroxychroman (gamma-CEHC), which is mainly excreted in the urine. Plasma concentrations of γ-Tocopherol (D-γ-Tocopherol) are inversely associated with the incidence of cardiovascular disease and prostate cancer. |

Tocopherol derivatives | Tocopherol mainly has four derivatives, which are divided into four types: α, β, γ and δ according to the methyl position. The activity of tocopherol-related compounds tocotrienol is certain when the substituents are different, but the activity of tocopherol will be significantly reduced. The following is the simplified structure of the two: The following table lists the activity ratio of tocotrienol to tocopherol after substitution with the following functional groups: |
Biological activity | γ-Tocopherol (D-γ-Tocopherol) is an effective cyclooxygenase (cyclooxygenase) inhibitor. γ-Tocopherol is a natural form of vitamin E found in many plant seeds, such as corn oil and soybean. γ-Tocopherol has anti-inflammatory properties and anti-cancer activity. |
